Today we were shooting at the Bataleon Rookie Attack in Wildhaus.
At first, the weather seemed nice, but the sun disappeared as soon as we set up the first shoot.
Snowboard/Freeski contests are much harder to shoot without the help of the sun. The light is very diffuse, but at the same time pretty strong, which prevents you from using your flashes properly, because you would need a big studio flash to create distinct shades.
Problematic from the view of a photographer was also the mode of the contest: slopestyle. Because the riders can choose their own line/obstacles, you never know where they will pop up. In the end we settled to use a tele and shoot everything from pretty far.
